Hal Holbrook in full “Mark Twain Tonight!” makeup attending the Meet and Greet after his performance.

The great theatrical legend, Hal Holbrook, performed his iconic one-man show,  Mark Twain Tonight! on the Springer Opera House Stage on February 3, 2017. The next day he conducted a symposium for CSU Theatre Department students as well as Springer Theatre Academy students, many of whom were able to see the 92 year old actor perform live the night before. This was a once in a lifetime experience for these young students and they were very engaged in discussion with Mr. Holbrook.

Behind the Scenes! Mr. Holbrook has been applying his stage makeup meticulously for over fifty years and has everything laid out just as he needs it to get the job done.

Another perk of his visit was a Q&A session with Richard Costabile, his Production Manager of twenty years. Richard has been a Stage Manager and Production Manager for over forty years, often traveling around the country and it was a fantastic experience to see the young students pick his brain about career choices, life/work balance, and really ‘making it’ in this buisness.
